PENNI McCLAMMY
Patrice “Penni” McClammy, a general practice attorney, has spent her career leading dialogue and advancing change. A true servant leader, while paving paths and building bridges, Penni’s leadership has impacted countless women, men, children, and families.
A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Penni is a 1993 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. In 1997, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Hampton University, Hampton, VA. In 2002, she received her Juris Doctorate from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, Montgomery, AL. Penni has continually used her talents and skills in a variety of ways . . . from criminal to real estate law to teaching, to National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) compliance enforcement, she has availed herself to empower the most marginalized in our community.
For 24 years, she has been the owner of Patrice E. McClammy, Attorney-at-Law, LLC, a general practice firm. She is a certified Guardian Ad Litem and Mediator. Penni served as Director of Compliance at Alabama A & M University, Huntsville, AL.; and later taught in the Public Administration Department as well as served as an Assistant Compliance Director at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL.
A tireless advocate, Penni augments her professional service with volunteer leadership and service. In 2015, Governor Kay Ivey appointed Penni to the State of Alabama Real Estate Appraisers Board as State-at-Large member, wherein she served as co-chairman of the Board and chaired the Legislative Affairs Committee. She is an incorporator and board member of the Blue Monday Community Reinvestment Partnership. Penni is a former board member of the Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, the Montgomery Regional Airport, the Montgomery County Indigent Advisory Board, and the Alabama State University Small Business Development Center Advisory Committee.
In November 2021, Penni was elected in a special election after the passing of her father, Representative Thad McClammy, Jr. after 26 years of devoted and notable service in District 76 and throughout the country. She is the first woman to represent Alabama House District 76, She was re-elected in 2022. She was elected Treasurer of the Alabama Black Caucus. During her legislative tenure, Penni was one of the chief architects and proponents of the largest tax cut in Alabama history – a $300 million reduction in the state sales tax on groceries. She created the State Grocery Sales Tax Task Force. In 2025, she was one of the leading advocates to keep the doors of Jackson Hospital, in Montgomery, Alabama open for Central Alabama to continue to receive healthcare.
Since 2022, Rep. McClammy is the radio and social media host of her weekly Friday at noon legislative and community outreach show, “Putting It On The Table”. She is aired on Roscoe Miller the CEO of WKXN/WKXK FM Radio and the Big KD 94.1.
Rep. McClammy serves on the Judiciary, Financial Services, Military & Veterans Affairs, and the Montgomery Delegation committees. Penni serves on the Fiscal Responsibility and Financial Affairs Committee and is a graduate of the 2022 CALS Class of the Council of State Governments. She was a member of the Fair Fight Action Fellows Class. Penni is the recipient of the 2022 Alabama National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Legislator of the Year Award, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Beta Nu Omega Chapter’s Soror of the Year, and the HER Award.
Penni is a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Whitehall, AL; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Cosmopolites Civic Club; The Links, Incorporated; Junior League of Montgomery; Leadership Montgomery Legacy Class XXX; Order of Eastern Star; Driving Force Women’s Golf Club Montgomery; and the Hampton University National Alumni Association in which she served as the Southeast Region Vice-President Alabama.
Penni is the daughter of her beloved parents, the late Dr. Thad C. and Patricia A. McClammy, Jr. Granddaughter to her grandparents the late Mr. Thad and Ukla McClammy, Sr. and the late Mr. Ernest and Anita Sharpe. She has one dear brother, Thad Christopher McClammy, III. She has two fur babies, Cat McClammy and Xena McClammy.
